How to use handheld water flosser?

2023-11-24

To use a handheld water flosser, follow these general steps:

1. Fill the reservoir: Remove the reservoir from the water flosser and fill it with lukewarm water. Be cautious not to overfill it, as it may cause leakage during use.

2. Attach the nozzle: Choose the appropriate nozzle for your needs (most water flossers come with multiple nozzle options) and securely attach it to the handle.

3. Adjust the pressure: Start with the lowest pressure setting and gradually increase as needed. It's generally recommended to start with a lower pressure and adjust based on your comfort level and dental needs.

4. Positioning: Lean over the sink to prevent water splashing and place the nozzle in your mouth, closing your lips slightly around it to create a seal.

5. Flossing: Aim the nozzle at a 90-degree angle towards your gumline. Begin with the back teeth and work your way around your mouth, directing the water along the gumline and in between your teeth. Take your time and pause briefly between each tooth.

6. Move systematically: Move the nozzle along the gumline, targeting all areas of your mouth. It's important to spend a few seconds on each tooth to ensure thorough cleaning.

7. Clean the tongue: Some water flossers come with a separate tongue cleaner attachment. If available, use it after flossing to clean your tongue.

8. Rinse and clean: Once you have finished flossing, remove the nozzle and rinse the water flosser thoroughly. Empty and dry the reservoir to prevent bacterial growth.

Remember to consult the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer of your handheld water flosser for any additional guidance or recommendations.
